It's cheap and you can taste the Mac experience. And only usbc ports, you will need hub/adapters for everything you want to use. And the RAM is limited (otherwise very expensive upgrade). What about skipping used macbooks and go for an M1? A refurbished Air goes for 800ish. The non retina of the 2012 isn't very good. But for App development? Or get 16 GB and you can use Virtual Machines. Is Windows important? All the 3 can run Windows, on dual boot. And some models have tendency to have faulty GPU. Could suffer of delamination on the display. Cons: you can change only the SSD (proprietary interface). Pros: nice display (it is the famous Retina), Big Sur without Patcher. Bad performance for value.Ģ015? To me is the second choice. Cons: none? It would lacks a bit of power? For 99% of the users it is perfectly fine.Ģ017? No please. Mid 2012, if with the 4 cores i7 is pretty good for daily activities, and some light editing.
